Buck Mason in SoHo

Buck Mason in SoHo: Minimalism, American Heritage, and Coffee with a Broadway View

SoHo, one of New York’s most stylish neighborhoods, has a new addition. At 486 Broadway, Buck Mason has opened a two-story flagship store — a brand that, over the past decade, has become synonymous with intentional menswear (and beyond) in the spirit of Modern American Classics.

Who Are Buck Mason?

Buck Mason was founded in 2013 in Venice Beach, California, by two friends — one with a background in fashion, the other in architecture and startups. What began as a subscription service featuring clothes from other brands quickly shifted direction when the pair became dissatisfied with the quality. They decided to design their own T-shirts instead — clean, well-crafted basics that many have since called near-perfect.

“The T-shirt worked instantly,” recalls co-founder Erik Allen Ford.

From One Tee to $100M+

Buck Mason’s early success followed the explosive trajectory more typical of Silicon Valley than fashion retail — with annual growth rates reaching 200–300%. In recent years, the pace has steadied to 50–100% per year, and the company’s yearly revenue now exceeds $100 million.

What started with T-shirts has grown into a full collection: Oxford shirts, chinos, denim, knitwear, and more. The brand has also introduced a dedicated women’s line, complete with its own standalone store.

The Philosophy Behind the Clothes

Buck Mason designs wardrobe staples that channel the spirit of mid-century American style — from the 1950s to the 1970s. Picture high-waisted jeans, vintage-inspired tees, and clean military silhouettes — all without logos, prints, or passing trends.

It’s quiet fashion with lasting form — the kind of clothing that speaks through fit, not flash.

Co-founder Sasha Koehn explains the brand name:

“Buck is the most American name we could think of. And Mason — to honor our fathers.”
(“Mason” means a bricklayer.)

Store, Coffee Shop & Book Wall — All in One

This isn’t just another SoHo boutique — it’s an experience. Inside the airy, light-filled interior, you’ll find wood, cotton, cashmere, and California warmth. On the ground floor, Fast Times, a specialty coffee bar, looks out onto busy Broadway and offers a curated library of over 1,000 books.

So even if you’re just out for a stroll in SoHo, it’s worth stopping by. Whether or not you leave with a shirt, a coffee with a view is always a good idea.
