Collectible Design Fair: designer furniture and functional art in New York

Yesterday in New York, the Collectible Design Fair opened — an exhibition of designer furniture and functional art. This is arguably one of the most fashionable events of the month, as all eyes of the global design community are focused here for the coming days.

About the project

Collectible is a fair of contemporary functional art, where the line between interior objects, functional design, and art has become impossible to draw.

The program began in 2018 in Brussels and quickly became a magnet for galleries, designers, and collectors looking not just for household objects, but for pieces that serve as artistic statements.

The New York edition debuted in 2024, and this year it returned to Manhattan — taking over the 39th floor of Water Street Projects, a space with an industrial character, concrete columns, and panoramic windows overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty. The same venue where the We Are Ona dinner was once held.

Participants of Collectible Design Fair

JAMIERI Gallery (Georgia) — Each piece is a synthesis of archival forms, traditional techniques, and contemporary perspectives. Their collection includes interior objects, furniture, sculptures, textiles, and decorative accessories, all crafted by Georgian architects and artisans.

Studio S II (Brooklyn) — Their mesh chair drew significant attention from the audience.

PALATY Gallery — Creators of a hypnotically beautiful table with a surface made of glass and resin.

JISU HAN JUNG (South Korea) — A creative, playful chair-lamp, with legs that rest on lightbulbs.

Caleb Engstrom (Los Angeles) — An artist who makes furniture out of fruit and pizza boxes.

An exhibition for those inspired by design, interiors, and art

Collectible has long since grown beyond a professional-only event. It’s an exhibition for those who see furniture not merely as utilitarian, but as part of the cultural code.

For collectors, it’s a chance to discover rising stars. For designers — an opportunity to exchange experiences and witness trends firsthand. For visitors — a rare glimpse into where 21st-century design is headed.
