Wild Cherry Restaurant: A New Culinary Experience in New York

Wild Cherry Restaurant: A New Culinary Experience in New York

Today marked the soft opening of Wild Cherry, a new restaurant that seems destined to become a magnet for cultured New Yorkers and lovers of all things beautiful. Here’s a first look at the city’s newest culinary experience.

A Place with History

Wild Cherry is nestled in the heart of the West Village, inside the building of Cherry Lane, the oldest continuously operating Off-Broadway theater. The historic venue was recently purchased by film company A24, which carried out a careful restoration. Now, the space is coming back to life — welcoming not only theatergoers, but also gourmets.

An Interior with Character

The dining room seats just 45 guests, giving it an intimate, cozy feel — like a stage where every detail plays its part. The design was created by Zeb Stewart, best known for his work on Hotel Delmano in Williamsburg.

The interior tells the story of the neighborhood through thoughtful details:

  • vintage-style green booths reminiscent of old New York,

  • statement lighting fixtures,

  • a white-and-green checkered floor,

  • and a delicate cherry leaf pattern on the walls — a subtle nod to the building’s theatrical past.

It feels as though the restaurant has always been here.

A Theatrical Menu

The menu hits just the right notes for regular theater patrons:

  • seafood appetizers,

  • pasta Alfredo,

  • and a steak for two with baked potatoes.

The drink list features light natural wines by the glass, a refreshing surprise for those used to heavy cabernets. Prefer a cocktail? Try the signature Dirty Martini — a perfect classic with a twist.

Wild Cherry isn’t simply a new dining spot — it’s part of New York’s theatrical heritage, where historic architecture meets modern taste and meticulous design. And as a bonus, it’s located on one of the city’s most picturesque streets — Commerce Street.
