Central Park’s Wollman Rink Celebrates 75th Anniversary

This year, one of New York City’s most iconic ice rinks — Wollman Rink in Central Park — is celebrating a milestone: its 75th anniversary.

Ice Rink, Shows, and a Guinness World Record

The season kicks off on October 24, and the opening weekend promises free skating, live shows, giveaways, and one ambitious goal — to set a Guinness World Record.

On Saturday, October 25, the rink will attempt the record for the “Largest Ice Skating Lesson”. 600 participants will take to the ice simultaneously for a 30-minute session with instructors from the Wollman Rink Skate School. The current record of 523 people has stood since 2014 — it’s time for New York to skate ahead!

Winter Fun Continues

Wollman Rink will continue to delight throughout the winter: discounts for IDNYC holders, access through Culture Pass, and the return of the cozy Igloo Village with heating, perfect for warming up after a few laps on the ice.

How to Join

Registration is free, but spots are limited. Early registrants are automatically entered into a prize draw for passes, parties, and Wollman merchandise. Participation requirement: ages 10 and up, with at least some basic confidence on skates.
