A Still Life Tasting: an immersive food and art experience at Hudson Wilder

What if an art gallery was about food — and food was about art?
That’s exactly the idea behind A Still Life Tasting: a cultural-gastronomic experience inside the Brooklyn gallery Hudson Wilder.

In DUMBO — a Brooklyn neighborhood every tourist has heard of — there’s a place most tourists don’t know, but locals love and cherish: the art space Hudson Wilder (@hudsonwilder on Instagram).

That’s where the pop-up project A Still Life Tasting took place — a creative collaboration between chef Anthony Trabasas and artist Hugo Yu, brought together by the experimental platform Happenings Production (@happeningsny on Instagram)

In practice, it’s a one-night restaurant. You choose a one-hour time slot, and then step into a space where food and sculpture enter into a dialogue. Can you tell if the dish inspired the form, or the form inspired the dish? Either way, your culinary experience becomes part of the artistic moment.

And there are no rules: you’re free to move around the space, taste what you like, chat, take photos or videos for your blog — or just soak in the visual vibe.

According to our special blog food editor Yana — it was genuinely delicious. But the real highlight? The aesthetics 😍
