U-shaped buildings on the Williamsburg waterfront

A lot of people write about and photograph the former Domino Sugar Factory, which has finally been completed. Or rather, reconstructed, since it was originally built back in 1882.

Sometimes attention also goes to📍Domino Park (designed by the same team behind the High Line, by the way) — a gorgeous waterfront park that turned artifacts of the old factory and industrial pier into trendy scenery. It’s probably the main park for all New York hipsters.

But hardly anyone talks about the stunning residential buildings nearby, which are insanely beautiful.

Unfortunately, this isn’t a photo but a rendering. And the tallest “U” will actually be built without the connecting bar — just two towers like “II”. Still, the two neighboring buildings are pure works of art, just in the form of residential housing.

📍The “U” on the left — One South First and Ten Grand (technically two buildings forming a U), by COOKFOX Architects (the same firm behind St. John’s Terminal, now home to Google’s offices), along with many other trendy projects.

📍The “U” in the middle of the rendering — a building currently under construction, which will have the address 280 Kent Avenue.

📍The “U” on the right — 325 Kent Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249, designed by SHoP Architects, who also created projects like The Copper.
