Retrography | Behind the Booth — A Photo Booth with Wine and Ice Cream

I have always loved the idea of photo booths, and today I came across a beautiful and clever combination:

Retrography | Behind the Booth is an ice cream and wine shop with part of its facade turned into a photo booth.

From the outside, Retrography looks like a restored photo booth from the past, but inside, it uses a completely modern system. It is not an analog booth with film, although the final result is deliberately styled to look like old photographs. The creators, Ann Kim and David Shim, are longtime New Yorkers who previously worked in the luxury fashion industry. They developed the entire software, interface, and filters themselves, which gives the photography process an appealing handmade feel.

And you do not just get four photographs for $12. The booth also creates a fun time-lapse GIF showing how you or your group posed.

Both inside and outside, you are surrounded by the phrase “Ice cream and wine pairing behind the booth,” which is what gave the establishment its name: Behind the Booth.

By the way, the ice cream is very good (the wine is okay). The combination is pretty much perfect for a date.

They also have a second booth in Midtown, but that one does not have the ice cream and wine café.
